Why stay here ...

CL of the Year 2011 - Regional Winner

Rockingham CL was opened in 2010, set in approximately 1 acre with wonderful panoramic views over the spectacular Welland Valley. We are situated just outside the village of Cottingham approximately 150 yards from the village boundary sign.

Everyone is welcome including pets and children. All of our pitches are spacious and level with clean gravel hard standings, they have 16 amp electric hookups with space for awning and car parking, with Free Wi-Fi available throughout the site. There is a hard gravel driveway which gives access to all of the pitches, this enables us to be open 365 days a year no matter what the weather.

We have designed our site to the highest of standards, previous guests have commented that it is of similar quality to most Club sites but as we only have 5 vans at any one time it never feels over crowded, availability can be checked by visiting our website and clicking on our availability calendar or by giving us a call.

Rockingham CL is ideally located for exploring the area, historic Rockingham Castle is a 5 minute drive away, Rockingham Speedway for those petrol heads is a 10 minute drive away.

Local English heritage sites include Kirby Hall, Lyddington Bede House & Triangular Lodge all no more than 10 minutes away by car.

The Eyebrook reservoir is just 10 minutes away which was used during the second world war for Dambuster training, however the much quieter activities of bird watching and trout fishing can now be enjoyed or slightly further afield we have Rutland Water which is 25 minutes away by car.

Cream teas are certain to await you in the market towns of Uppingham and Oakham, a must if you are interested in Art Galleries and Antiques. The nearby town of Corby has an International public swimming pool and a Cinema coming soon!

There is a local dog walking park at East Carlton which is a 5 to 10 minute drive away approximately 200 acres in size it is open all year with free parking. The park can also be accessed by walking the famous Jurassic way through the villages of Cottingham and Middleton.

However many of our guests simply enjoy the tranquillity of the CL and choose to spend their time watching the Red Kites that frequently fly over the CL, and of course a BBQ and favourite tipple whilst the sunsets beautifully over the valley.

There are two pubs within a 5 to 10 minute walk from the CL serving real ales and good pub food.

Our objective is to provide our fellow caravanners with a safe, secure, clean and tidy retreat in the good old fashioned English countryside, we hope to see you soon.

Our site is ideal for couples and walkers. There is also CCTV and a security gate with access code.

Rockingham Valley CL
What a wonderful CL. Amazing views. The pitches are spacious, with picnic tables available to all. Lovely, clean toilets and shower. There is a coded gate entry for security, giving peace of mind. Highly recommend this site.

Beautiful location

Rockingham Valley CL
First time on this site, but we will return. It has the most amazing views. Immaculately clean shower and toilets. There was some noise from the road but nothing too bothersome. There were some dogs barking some of Saturday but not at all today Sunday. Easy arrival with access code. Would highly recommend this site.

Beautiful views over Rutland Valley

Rockingham Valley CL
Stayed here first bank holiday of 2022. Stayed in the only serviced pitch the royal box. Lovely views, over the Rutland countryside. We visited Rockingham Castle, with its lovely tea room and cakes! From pitch saw red kites, pea hens and goldfinches. Next door but one is the goat farm they like dancing on their steel roof one night until late but we enjoyed this. I note another reviewer mentioned barking dogs the goat farm does have barking dogs but they were not constant and didn’t bother us too much. Very clean and tidy site, would go again.

Go before its spoiled….

Rockingham Valley CL
This is a beautiful peaceful site with incredible views over the Welland Valley. We had 2 nights here last week. I agree with other reviews that the nearby barking dogs are disturbing-they seem to be shut into a building at the nearby farm and bark all day. It’s a pity there are not any walks direct from the site, but you can forgive it that because the views are amazing…. For now. We walked for about a mile down the road (on the verges to join the Jurassic Way trail which was lovely. Unfortunately we noticed the site has applied for planning permission to install 9 glamping bell tents on this CL, with the CL spaces being relegated to the back 5 spaces near the tall hedge right by the road. Those spaces are often shaded and the road noise in not inconsiderable. I for one would not fancy being sited there looking at the 9 bell tents in front of us and the valley beyond that. I understand why landowners keep putting up these tents, its easy money once they are up and going, but I do wonder if they are bit of a current trend that might die once sunny Europe opens up again. Sadly I wont be coming again if these things get installed.

Everything you want

Rockingham Valley CL
The views looking over the Welland valley from this CL are stunning. The pitches are all hard standing and you can choose nearer the road or nearer the fields. There is a bit of road noise, but we didn't find it intrusive. The toilets and shower are wonderful and the site information sent by e-mail prior to your visit is very comprehensive. The site owners both work, so you might only see them once a day, but there is a contact telephone number in the information area, so it's not a problem. They are very welcoming and the site is brilliant. Thanks for having us, Tony and Jean Petter.
