Beautiful site

What a gorgeous site! We were met by Dori when we arrived and as we didn't need EHU, were given the option to pitch beside the lake. We had an idyllic view with swans and ducks on the lake, the occasional fish jumping for food and geese flying overhead. There are several NT sites close by, all within cycling distance. The village is very close with shop, pubs and a caravan and motorhome parts supplier (Hillside Awnings). We loved our stay here.

Lovely Site

This is a site that I would not hesitate to return to, it has all the features as described by others. Sadly I never met the owners to speak to, and was unaware that you could use a shower if you paid a deposit, as all the doors were locked. Twice the toilet had no toilet paper and we noticed that fishermen were using it when it is advertised as exclusive use only. You do have to be a little aware that if you have a long caravan then until the electric security gate opens you can cause a delay to the traffic. Not so keen on the hens wandering about when you risk stepping in their droppings and then get it onto the caravan carpets. Seems like a lot of moans but these are just facts to be aware of, as it is a lovely place to stay, and I look forward to my next visit.

Excellent site

We have stayed at Dorset Springs 4 times now since we bought our caravan in 2021. We like it here because of the location- there is plenty to do locally and it is near my parents house. The pitches are brilliant- there are 5 hard standing that are big and level. For busier times there are further pitches on a different part. There are chickens roaming free, and two big fishing lakes as well as a lodge for ‘glampers’ so don’t expect it to be like a field in the middle of no where here like a lot of cls- that said, it is really quiet, everyone is polite as you would expect from candmc members! There is a shower room that you put a £20 deposit down for, the owner sadly had a lot of damage done to the toilets so they have had to do this to ensure the facilities don’t get broken. The shower is really nice and warm and facilities nice- we wouldn’t come if there was no shower. We received an email confirmation of our booking and then before we stay a reminder of the gate number and pitch number. Yes I don’t get shown to the pitch or ‘welcomed’, but personally I prefer this as you don’t feel like you are being watched or checked up on the whole time. The owners have children and work full time, hence the site being a cl and the possibility of them not being here when you turn up. There is a child’s play area with two slides, a large basket swing (which the children love!) The lakes are a very popular fishing lakes and are reknowned locally for their brilliant fish! So an ideal site if you want to fish too!! We will definitely return - being near the water is lovely - there is much to like 💕

Relaxing but plenty to do in surrounding area.

We took our five year old and dogs to stay here. It is a relaxing site and we enjoyed watching the anglers watching their lines, and the moorhen with her babies following, and the mallard sitting on her nest. There is plenty to do in the area, and some nice pub lunches were had close by. Swanage railway is near, and the steam train is a great ride. The listed cinema in Wareham was great for a rainy day. The free ranging chickens were a point of entertainment, as one, Mrs Maud 'the Marauder' kept climbing aboard our American Motorhome! Very brave, or brainless, when we had dogs on board! We recommend this site, for peace and quiet, but also as a good base for travelling further afield..

Disappointed

Re Booked this CL site in July after a visit in Feb with friends, received a email confirming our pitch numbers were 8 & 9 and the gate code and to feel free to walk around the site and enjoy! There are now ten pitches on this site and more electric hook ups for further grass pitches so no longer the peaceful CL site it’s advertised as. It has been developed with an addition of a lodge at extortionate prices. furthermore the owners had a private party the weekend of our visit with tents, motor homes and another caravans arriving, we had no prior warning of this party to which Fireworks were let off on the Friday evening far too close to the campers and caravans. During our stay we didn’t once have a visit from the owners to check if we needed anything. Dogs were roaming around off leads, no bins apart from the owners house and no dog waste bins to be found anywhere on the site. One single bathroom available but had to pay a 20 pounds deposit for the key. After seeing online you were able to free roam around the site, we decided to walk around the lake, we were promptly stopped by the owner who told us “ I will have to put my CL hat on” and told the area was off limits and we would have to return the way we came. When we made contact with the owner to give the key back not asked if we had enjoyed our say or anything.

A superb CL.

Possibly the best CL I have stayed on. I gave 4 stars for peace & tranquility because the entrance to the site is directly off the A350 and about 1/4 mile to the north of the busy A31 so with a SW wind blowing you do get some background road noise. But on the plus side this makes the site very accessible for large units. Steve & Dory have a superb site and good value at £25/night. See other reviews for what the site offers.

Stunning site in rural Dorset .

We arrived at the site with code for electric gates and drove to our pitch which was level and covered in pea shingle with electric hook up . The pitches are guarded by large trees on one side and the forward view is of manicured grass and lakes a superb view We were joined at breakfast by the chickens which roam around the grounds . Spotlessly clean and well kept I cannot fault the site highly recommended by us we stayed for two nights but would stay again superb.

Beautiful Location

We stayed here for 3 nights very recently and loved it and the lakes a real treat to walk round. Easy to get to from the A31 and the location excellent for visiting Lulworth, Poole and Tyneham Village which we were very keen to visit, the beach there was amazing the dog loved it! There is so much to see in the area and will definitely like to go back again to Dorset Springs. Friendly chickens too!! The site is very tidy and clean.

Lovely Gem of a Site in Dorset

We booked Dorset Springs at fairly short notice as we decided to cancel our annual trip to France because of COVID restrictions. We initially booked four days as part of our tour of the South Coast and decided to stay another two nights as we loved it so much which was not a problem. On arrival we were greeted by Dory and everything was well explained to us. However we noticed that there was pitches available on the side of the beautiful lake with its gin clear water and being totally self sufficient with lithium batteries and solar power we asked if we could switch pitches which was not a problem. This proved to be very rewarding as sitting on the lakeside watching the wildlife proved to be very relaxing and interesting. Watching the Pike jump, the Grebes diving and teaching their young to the daily flocks of Canada and Grey Legged Geese taking up residence en route to their destinations. We even spotted a couple of Kingfishers and a Mink which we then learned from Steve were very aggressive and destructive to other forms of wildlife . However I suppose this is part of natures cycle. We found the site to be very central for all of the local towns, villages and attraction that we thoroughly enjoyed visiting. Lulworth Cove, Corfe Castle, Swanage, Poole, Bournemouth, Christchurch and not to forget the local vineyards at English Oak near Poole and Langham's near Dorchester. I also found it convenient for getting out and about on my road bike although the main roads proved to be not very cycle friendly with the traffic volumes but once off the beaten track there were some lovely cycle routes that visited some beautiful villages. Cant wait to come back to this site just for the nature but also the ease of getting out and about.
