Really lovely site and owners

We stayed here for 8 nights because of the rave reviews and awards this site had previously won. We weren't disappointed! We normally stay in 'fields' but this CL has beautifully manicured lawns with palm trees which instantly gives it a holiday feel - in my mind anyway! It was unfortunate that when we arrived it was pouring with rain and had been for many days by the looks and feel of the lawned areas and dog walk! It was totally water logged! Luckily all pitches are on hard standing and we had brought our wellies! The pitches are very private with hedges separating most which is lovely and with lots of room between neighbouring pitches. In my opinion the hardstanding area is just a tad too small for caravan, awning and car. In the summer months when it is drier it is perhaps not such a problem but in wetter months, it is a question of squeezing all your things onto the hardstanding but this is not a major issue - just an observation! The dog walk is an enclosed field next to the campsite which is great. Would be great to have a dog waste bin in this field but again, not a major issue. The site is next to a railway station but although we did occassionally hear trains, it did not disturb our sleep (not even sure they ran through the night - that is how quiet it is!) nor have any negative impact on our stay. There are 2 roomy showers with nice hot water, and a loo & sink in each of these shower rooms with a 3rd wc in its own room. All clean and working well. I find sites with a gate to them a little annoying as it is me that has to constantly get in and out of the car to open and close the gate (!!) but I guess this helps to maintain privacy and security on the up side. I personally prefer sites with gates that are left open in the day and only closed at night but that is just personal preference. The owners gave us a great map upon arrival and the free wi-fi code which is also a plus as with so many other sites you have to pay extra. I am not saying the wi-fi was terribly good or fast, but it was available free of charge! We found ourselves using 4G on our phones more often than not! The walk we did from the campsite into Saundersfoot took us 6 miles there and back which was just great. Mainly off road or on very peaceful roads hardly used by any cars! Great location not only in terms of access and ease to find but also to visit the surrounding areas. We would definitely recommend this site and we would return. Thanks Ann and Bruce!

4 night stay

Have just spent a very peaceful 4 nights welcomed by charming hosts. The site is extremely well kept with plenty of room between pitches. Access into and around the site is easy evan for the nervous drivers. The toilets and showers are spotless along with the waste area. Their is a small cabin which has an abundance of information and maps on the area. Shops and takeaways are very local too. Be sure to book early though as this site is a little gem.

Brilliant

Just returned from a 10 day stay and have to say this is one of the best CL's we have ever stayed on. There are large pitches all hardstanding with good, clean, warm showers and toilets - the whole site beautifully laid out. I'm not surprised that the CL has won so many awards. Well done Bruce and Ann your business is a credit to you. There is plenty to do within 10 miles especially if you like castles, walking and coastal scenery. The Saundersfoot's Talbot beach is a dream and within easy walking distance - clean sand, safe swimming and rock pools for the kids - what more could you want? Finding somewhere to eat out that wasn't burgers and chips took a little research but try the Old Chemist Inn at Saundersfoot - good food and reasonable prices and dog friendly. If you want to stay here book early or you will be disappointed! It's often full with good reason.

First Class Site

Recently stayed 3 nights and can only endorse the previous good comments. The site is immaculately maintained, excellent spacing between pitches so never feel crowded. It is a pleasant 30 minute walk into Saundersfoot & just 10 minutes walk to Kilgetty where you can purchase provisions etc. Bus stop next to the site entrance making visits further afield easy if not using own transport. Sure to return in future.

trust these reviews!

Just spent 3 nights here and can't add to the excellent reviews posted here. Great communication by mobile even before we arrived and an offer to take me to the chip shop was much appreciated. A warm welcome waits you.

A reluctant excellent review!

Yes, a reluctant excellent review. I don't want to give a good review because I want to make sure there is always a space for my caravan. So here reluctantly is my excellent review! As soon as we arrive Bruce is there to welcome us along with his lovely wife Ann. It is not long before a lot of friendly banter commences between Bruce and myself and that continues through the week. Anyway as far as your hosts are concerned you couldn't wish to meet a nicer more helpful couple. The site itself is immaculate and beautifully laid out and manicured by Bruce himself. The entrance into the site is easy and once you are on site you could be anywhere! But you are not anywhere, you are in a little piece of heaven. The toilets and showers are really exceptional and I don't think you could do better at any CL in the country! There are so many local places to visit, shop and eat. The WiFi is 100% throughout. The phone signal is excellent. The TV signal is 100% too! There is nothing not to like about Hillcroft and we have just about managed to book up for next year! Love everything about it! Ok, I told you it was a reluctant excellent review and I wasn't lying! Probably won't be able to get in there now unless I book up years in advance!

This is how a CL should be

We have spent may bank holiday at this site, can not praise it highly enough, unfortunately we had to come back a little early. we wish this site was closer to home (6hr away) we would be there all the time. the owners of the site are so nice and made us feel so welcome, thank you for letting us stay.

One of life's little gems

We contacted the owner for a one night stop over and could not believe what we found. We was met by the owners and made to feel very welcome and then we moved onto find the best well kept site we have ever been on in 33yrs of touring. We hope to go back there soon but plan on a much longer stay next time. Please don't hesitate to book onto this CL it's views and just everything is fantastic a massive thank you to you both.

Excellent site

Decided on the spur of the moment to have a few days away and chose Tenby as my general destination. Checked several websites for ideas and reviews and settled on Hillcroft CL as it had excellent reviews, and quite rightly deserved too. I can understand why it has so many awards Only stayed there for two nights, but Anne and Bruce were very welcoming and friendly and genuinely interested in thier guests... Might have helped as I have a T@b 320.... :) Site was very spacious, laid out well, and kept in great condition, as were the facilities which were spotless. Found the site to be generally quiet with a little traffic noise now and again, although some have mentioned the train line along side the site, which didnt bother me at all - but being close to nature the morning chorus was more of an issue for me being a night owl. Other benefits were the hardstanding bases, electric hookups, and also free wifi if needed Highly recommended site, but dont tell anyone as it might become difficult to book a stay there if too many people know about this wonderful site Paul and Bumble the T@b
