Lovely forest with deer and a few caravans and motorhomes

This is a beautiful, peaceful, natural site - except for some train toots, which we did not mind and which did not seem to occur at night - or we slept through them! The wildlife was wonderful - very tame deer. Wardens kind and helpful. Thank you. We spent a whole day there - which we don't normally do - it was that nice :-)

Enjoyable Stay

Lovey stay, set amongst open woodland with plenty of small flat areas to pitch. Very peaceful with deer roaming around lovely to watch. Facilities nice and clean , great to hot showers with a stool and hanging space, even a shelf for soaps etc. It is by a main train line with a station just outside the site, which can get you to Weymouth , and the other to Bournemouth, trains run every hour and finished late in the evening. There is the Breezer bus service which you can pick up from near Wareham train station to get you Swanage. Very convenient with easy access., and welcoming staff

A lovely stay at Crossways

First time at this site and what a lovely stay, we originally booked for 2 nights and decided to extend our stay for a further 2 days because we liked it so much. The deer were a novelty, much tamer than the ones in the New Forest. My dog was eyeing up the venison!! The facilities were spotless, showers were hot and welcoming, and I was so delighted to see that the site had installed compost loos, just be sure you don't have your mobile in your back pocket when you sit down on the toilet!!!! There is easy access to public transport - bus and train. My only quibble, which has nothing to do with the campsite itself is the main road. There is a co-op about 10 minutes from the site but the paths are fairly narrow and the traffic hares down the road at great speed. Big thanks to the staff for making us so welcome, we will certainly be back again in the future.

Peaceful and relaxing site

First stay at this site and will definitely return. All staff were really polite and so helpful. The deer wandering through the site are a real treat to see. Facilities were all clean and well maintained although perhaps a bit dated The Frampton Arms which can be accessed via a gate on site is well worth a visit. Sunday roast was immense and really tasty and local ale at £2.50 a pint!!

Super site

Super welcoming site with nearby pub, dog friendly, train station and handily placed for Bournemouth/Swanage/Weymouth. Deer roaming freely throughout the site good size pitches and spotlessly clean. Recommended

Perfect place

Been to this site a number of times and have been on a different pitch each time, every one of them have been excellent, the deers visited us where ever we set up. The facilities are clean (showers and toilets) staff are so helpful and friendly. We had EHU on a grass pitch every time which have been flat, just remember to twist your plug when you connect up. :-) The train line is close and convenient to travel to either Weymouth,Poole or Bournemouth. Also the pub next to the station (approx 400 m away) The Frampton Arms do great meals and a great pint. Overall a perfect place.

What a gem!

We stayed here a week ago and it must rate amongst the very best caravan site we have stayed at. The site is exquisitely positioned in woodland with a lot of small enclaves to pitch on providing a good deal of privacy. The facilities were spotless, the only issue being that due to the laudable recycling methodology the showers and toilets are in different blocks. This didn’t bother us as we use the caravan facilities but may be an inconvenience to some. There are also deer who inhabit the site and roam around which is really nice. The staff are very friendly and helpful and there is a cabin near the entrance containing a lot of helpful information and a book change facility. Location is excellent with easy access to Dorchester and the coastal resorts of Bournemouth, Weymouth and Lyme Regis, all within easy reach. There is a pub just outside the entrance which is open all day and serves good quality and value food as well as a local draft beer for £2.50. There is also a Co Op convenience store a few minutes walk away, what’s not to like? The only thing that would stop us returning very soon is the patchy wi-fi which is only available near the reception, although there is a programme in place to role it out across the whole site. As soon as it is we will be back for a longer stay. Truly superb

Lovely and generally peaceful

A lovely little site well placed for catching the train to Weymouth, Wool (for buses) and beyond. Within a few minutes walking distance to the Frampton Arms for food and drink. The facilities are clean albeit a little dated. Some road noise can be heard along with trains every hour but not really intrusive. No gripes at all apart from the rather extortionate price of each night (£37) for no WiFi, separate toilets and showers and very dated overall facilities.

Excellent site

This was our second visit and will book again. Our granddaughter loved the fact the deer were roaming though the site. The site and facilities were clean and tidy. Easy access to the train station where you can catch a train to Weymouth in one direction and Poole in the other. Will be booking again soon.

Our favourite site

Been coming here since daughter now 15 was eight. It's a great site. Staff are friendly and very helpful and keep the site and facilities in top condition. Regarding noise there are trains and the quarry operating but any noise is momentary and it soon becomes tranquil again. I've never had any issue with smells from the composting toilets, more likely the chemical toilet tanks!
