Days 1 - 7: Camping Château de Lez-Eaux to the Loire

Day 1 – Arrive at Camping Château de Lez-Eaux

Meet your hosts and fellow tourers over a welcome drink and buffet dinner.

Day 2 - Château de Lez-Eaux

Explore the campsite surroundings today and enjoy a tea in the château.

Day 3 – Villedieu Market and the Bell Foundry

Today, spend a leisurely morning browsing the vibrant market of Villedieu-les-Poêles. Then, in the afternoon, enjoy a guided visit to the bell foundry which produces bells for some of the largest cathedrals and churches in both France and around the world. After lunch in a local crêperie, take a guided visit of Château de Chanteloup.

Day 4 – A trip to Mont St Michel

In the morning, visit a dairy farm specialising in the production of a famous Normandy speciality - Camembert cheese!

After a restaurant lunch, visit the iconic landmark of Mont St Michel. Previously only accessible at low tide, this tidal island and UNESCO World Heritage Site is easily reached at any time via the new bridge. Wander the winding, cobbled streets, browse the pretty boutiques and admire the view from the top. 

Day 5 – Leave Normandy and head to Camping L'Isle Verte in the Loire

Settle in to your site with a welcome drink and three course meal.

Day 6 – Marché des vins Troglodyte Cave

The Loire is of course one of France’s most well-known and largest wine-growing regions. So a visit here wouldn’t be complete without some wine-tasting! 

Another particularity of the Loire is the Troglodyte dwellings, built into the rock face. Visit these fascinating, limestone caves, now either used to live in or used as wine cellars, and enjoy some local cheeses and meats with your wine.

Day 7 – River cruise and Château de Saumur

Today, set off from the campsite in vintage VW camper vans to the nearby town of Saumur! After a visit to the château, enjoy free time to visit the town at leisure and have lunch. Then, head back to the campsite by boat with a tasting session of sparkling wines on board!

Day 8 – A free day at your leisure

Day 9 – Travel to Camping Le Moulin de Bel Air

Head to your next campsite in the Lot today. Please note, today is a long travelling day. Why not break your journey with a visit to the Jardins de l'Évêché botanical gardens in Limoges? Once at the campsite, enjoy a welcome drink and meal in the evening.

Day 10 – Free day

Take some time to relax and take it easy after your long journey the day before.

Day 11 – Lunch cruise and St-Cirq-Lapopie

Today is an excursion to Cahors, the main city of the Lot department. Enjoy a lunch cruise on the river Lot before going on a guided tour of St-Cirq-Lapopie - classed as one of the most beautiful villages in France and well known for its wood turners and historical monuments.

Day 12 - Sarlat-la-Canèda

Today, embark on a touristic route to Sarlat via the Routes des Châteaux trail. Once in Sarlat, take in this beautiful town’s history and architecture with a guided tour and free time to visit at your leisure.

Day 13 - Vineyard visit and truffle tasting

Today, visit a vineyard in the village of Saint Sernin. In the evening, enjoy a wine and truffle pairing.

Day 14 –  Travel to Camping Lac des Sapins in Cublize

Today is another long drive to your next campsite. Arrive and settle onto your pitch before ending the day with a wine tasting and meal at the campsite restaurant.

Day 16 – The villages of ‘golden stone’

Today visit the village of Oingt - one of the villages of ‘golden stone’ so called for its limestone buildings stained with iron oxides, and which subtly change colour during the day. Afterwards, head over to the fascinating ‘Carrières de Glay’, (ancient quarries of Glay) an important geological site showing some impressive rock formations and stratification.

Day 17 – Guided walk in the hills of Cublize

Today take a guided hike up in the hills of Cublize overlooking the lake. Enjoy a very traditional lunch of ‘mâchon’ - a picnic lunch of local cold meats and offal dishes.

Day 18 – Lake and local farm visit

Today, take a gentle walk around the lake this time, followed by a trip to a local farm. Here, enjoy a tasting of their produce - in this case, yoghurt!

Day 19 – Travel to Champs la Chèvre

Today leave the Cublize and travel to your next campsite, Champs la Chèvre, in the foothills of the Alps. In the evening, enjoy a welcome drink and a tasting of Clairette de Die par Jaillance - a locally produced sparkling wine.

Day 20 – Lus-la-Croix-Haute

This morning, head off on a cultural visit to the medieval mountain village of Lus-la-Croix-Haute which sits between the departments of Drôme and the Haute-Alpes. Afterwards, enjoy lunch in a highly rated restaurant.

The rest of the afternoon is free at your leisure.

Day 21 – La Jarjatte picnic and guided tour

Today visit the resort of La Jarjatte, popular for biking and walking in the summer, and as a ski resort in the winter. After lunch, go on a guided tour of the village with the resort manager and mountain guide.

Back at the campsite, enjoy an evening meal and music out on the restaurant’s terrace.

Days 22 - 27: Serres to River Rhône

Day 22 – Lavender Distillery and Village of Serres

Take in the aromas of the South of France at the Distillery of Les Pusteaux. Here, essential oils and cosmetics are produced from plants such as lavender, pine and juniper. Then, head to the medieval village of Serres and enjoy a restaurant lunch. End the day with a ‘dégustation’ of some local Jarjatte craft beers back at the campsite.

Day 23 - Travel to Camping Le Coin Tranquille 

Leave Camping Champs la Chèvre and travel over to Le Coin Tranquille. Settle in at this final campsite and enjoy a welcome drink and dinner.

Day 24 – Village of Bugey and winery visit

Today’s excursion takes you to the pretty village of Bugey, where you will have free time to explore, before visiting the Caveau Bugiste winery, where various different wines are produced. Enjoy a ‘dégustation’ as well as a picnic lunch. On the way back to the campsite, stop off at Lake Barterand and enjoy its panoramic views as well as the beauty of the Glandieu waterfall.

Day 25 – Belvédère du Revard and Rhône cruise 

Discover the Savoie region today. Take in spectacular, panoramic, mountain views on the lookout platforms of Belvédère du Revard, high up at an altitude of 1538m. Then, after a restaurant lunch, relax and take in the stunning surrounding views with a cruise on the Canal de Savière which joins the Lac du Bourget to the river Rhône. 

Day 26 –  Morning walk and farewell meal

Today, enjoy a morning walk. Then end this fabulous holiday with a barbeque and evening entertainment at the campsite restaurant to say goodbye to your hosts and fellow tourers.

Day 27 - Depart campsite by midday
